The mission of Blackfoot School District No. 55, in partnership with the community, is to prepare students for the future by enabling every student to gain knowledge and skills, to develop confidence, to value life-long learning, and to become responsible contributing members of our changing world.
Blackfoot is equal distance between Pocatello and Idaho Falls along Interstate 15. School District 55 provides education to more than 4,100 students from the communities of Blackfoot, Wapello, Groveland and Fort Hall. With 235 certificated teachers, the pupil to teacher ratio is an enviable 18 to 1.
Blackfoot School District emphasizes the inviting school concept. School is a place where children should feel safe and confident. Parents should know that we are committed to the concept that every child will learn.
Students and families new to the Blackfoot School District should register for admission as soon as possible at the school nearest their home. During the summer, parents may come to the school district office building for registration information. To enroll in any Idaho public schools, kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1. Also ALL students of any age enrolling in Blackfoot Public Schools for the first time must present a state certified birth certificate and immunization records.
Most students attend their neighborhood school or the school of their choice under the district's open enrollment policy.
